MOVING EMOTIONS

Moving Emotions is my longest-running body of work, a series I began more than fifteen years ago and continue to develop today.
The series started as a collection of emotional portraits. Figures often without a defined gender, naked, hairless and stripped of individual identity. Rather than portraying specific people, these characters embody emotional states.

Their expressions, gestures, and postures become the primary language through which vulnerability, tension, longing, shame, uncertainty, sadness and joy are communicated.
Over the years, these figures have accompanied me through different stages of my own life, becoming mirrors of my inner emotional landscape. They were never created to be pleasing or decorative; instead, they exist as honest companions, embracing the ambiguity and contradictions of human experience.

In recent works, the figures have become increasingly dynamic. No longer static, they move, reach, balance, and interact with circular forms that symbolise life itself—objects of desire, play, connection, and transformation. Their bodies now carry as much meaning as their faces, allowing emotion to unfold through movement rather than expression alone.

Alongside this conceptual evolution, my painterly language has shifted. Transparent layers of acrylic and pastel create a sense of lightness and permeability, while earthy yet vibrant colours ground the compositions. Together, they give the Moving Emotions an almost weightless presence.
